Reverb Day 14: Foodie Friday

Foodie Friday — Cultivate Style: Food nourishes us. Some foods give us more enjoyment than others. Some foods leave us feeling less than ourselves. What foods nourished your soul and body this year? What food choices can you make in 2013 to cultivate more self-care?

 One food I have incorporated into my eating this year was my green smoothies.  I have one of those Vita Mix Blenders, which is worth every penny that it costs!

I blend up veggies, and fruits.  I get 3 or 4 servings of veggies from one 20 ounce bottle of green goodness.

I love it. My standard smoothie is usually spinach, some frozen grape tomatoes, maybe half an apple or pear, maybe part of an avocado.  I usually remember to go to the plant room and grab some cilantro, thyme, oregano, basil, from my herb plants growing.  I throw all this into the VitaMix and blend away.

I sip on this for 1/2 hour or one hour at work.  The co-workers are getting pretty used to my sometimes pretty green smoothie, sometimes it's more brown looking (due to the tomatoes & spinach) and always want to know what I have combined for that day.

  1. Oooh, I do love green smoothies. I too have a vitamix and it ROCKS.
    I put in swiss chard from my garden, frozen banana and milk. Sometimes frozen blueberries or mango.
    Never thought to try herbs in it. I always throw parsley in our salads because it's amazingly high in Vitamin K, and also contains Vitamins C and A. I bet it would blend right in.
